Eye of Odin Video and I MET ADAM ONDRA YESTERDAY!

So, after what took me a few days, but what should have taken a few hours, the edit of the Eye of Odin footage is done and online!

I know the vid is a tad long, but I think any obsessed sport climber will find it entertaining until the end… if for no other reason than watching me struggle and scream a lot.

In other news, I MET ADAM ONDRA YESTERDAY!!! That’s right, in the flesh! He’s not a hologram! Or… technology is really taking off, but either way, digitized picture of actual human being, super nice guy and I’m pretty sure WE’LL GET THE CHANCE TO CLIMB TOGETHER IN THE NEXT 5 WEEKS WHILE WE’RE BOTH HERE IN NORWAY!!! I hope so at least. It would be super inspiring for me to climb with the guy, and it will boost his confidence a notch or three for him to climb with me. Booo-yay! I’m such a fan-boy, but hey, at least I don’t try to hide it like most people!

It was actually pretty funny because, the crag where I spotted him strolling up to, last night, Hell, is the local, after work zone for climbers in Trondheim. It doest get a little crowded sometimes, but I don’t think there are usually 40 people there on a weekday evening. Yesterday though, for some reason or another (text pod message that read: I HEARD ADAM FREAKEN ONDRA IS COMING TO HELL TONIGHT!?!) it was packed. More and more people kept showing up, and then, ADAM ONDRA SHOWED UP with his girl friend, and everyone just gawked! I kinda felt bad for the guy… but I think he’s used to it by now and handles it pretty well.

I suggested to Adam that he allow me to give him the beta on the crags hardest established route, Flykræsj (Plane crash) and unrepeated 8c, but his response to that was, “you don’t think it’s ok for an onsight?” Ha! Of course! What was I thinking! I was thinking he was someone other than Adam Ondra, I suppose. But I know he was planning on trying it this morning and, I wonder what happened? The suspense is killing me!

I fell from the last hard move twice yesterday and I am psyched to try to put it down tomorrow, regardless of weather or not it gets on sighted today. So tomorrow morning, back to Hell so I can do Flykræsj  and so Trine can get her ultimate nemesis project, The Classic done, then it’s northwards to the great white walls (and boulders) of norther Norway!

To all my american friends, happy independence day! Eat some BBQ, drink some beer and soak up some sunshine for me in the good ole US of A! Maybe a little pin the top-hat on uncle sam too?
